Welcome!

Thank you for either visiting a site demo or downloading the source for JaxContact.

Installation Notes

Software Requirements

• Webserver that can run PHP (Apache, IIS, etc.)
• PHP 4.x or 5.x
• No database needed for this app!

Setup

1. Unzip the archive to your webserver. Give PHP the ability to create files in the JaxContact folder (use chmod if necessary).
2. You're done!

A note about customization: all visual elements in JaxContact are CSS driven. Simply edit main.css found in the css directory to change colors + sizes + layouts. Also, all template pictures (like the header and footer) are found in support/pics; just change those to customize the application and make it your own.

List of bugs still to fix

• Set highlighting for 'Action' buttons.
• Have the column drop downs actually cause the table to paint according to what's chosen. Allow a set of default drop down choices, to be determined during the initialize event.
• Break display table dependence on xml file layout.
• Create a 'Save Changes' button at the bottom of the page. When clicked, serialize the array as xml, then send it out to a php script which then stores it on the server's file system. Change pim-server.php to read this file.
• When an 'action' is clicked, the other actions should determine whether they should continue displaying. For example, clicking 'Add New Contact' should cause 'View', 'Edit', and 'Delete' to disappear.
• After a contact is added, move the focus. Otherwise it stays on the now-hidden update button, which means another enter or spacebar keypress triggers an empty record add.
• Do not allow empty contacts to be added.
• If search has hits across multiple columns, the same record may show more than once.
• Allow cancel buttons for add and edit.
• Click 'Add New Contact' then click 'Edit Fields'. Now click 'Click Here to Return to Contacts'. Notice how returning to add contact isn't working 100% (highlight on add contact button, perhaps some other issues).
